What is the ICC?

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is the first ever permanent, treaty-based, international criminal tribunal established to investigate and try individuals for the most serious crimes: genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. The ICC defers to national criminal systems that investigate crimes within the ICC's jurisdiction.
